Kadalys Paris – Sustainable Banana Science Skin Care

After being initiated into the traditional practices of Caribbean medicine from an early age by her mother, Shirley Billot decided to found Kadalys as a way of combining her desire to highlight ancestral banana tree cosmetic practices with a passion for botanical research.

Shirley launched a dedicated research program to study the exceptional anti-ageing power of banana trees, scientifically proving that the herb is naturally rich in minerals, vitamins, phytosterols and polyphenols, which give it extraordinary anti-ageing properties.

Through the Kadalys research program, she developed ground breaking new cosmetic active ingredients named “Musactif®”. They act as a potent anti-ageing shield, containing the banana tree’s high octane anti oxidant molecules which in specific doses, help to preserve youthful skin and refines beauty throughout the years.

After 3 years of research, KADALYS was launched in September 2012.

Our Musactifs 

With the expertise of its dedicated R&D laboratory, Kadalys has developed two patented elements called “Musactifs”; powerful antioxidants derived from cutting edge scientific study of the banana tree.

Our research and development found that bananas contain, bioactive concentrates such as phytosterols and polyphenols that have exceptional anti-aging properties. The anti-oxidants preserve skin’s youth while stimulating natural mechanisms favouring collagen and elastin synthesis and reinforcing the skin.

Our research center is located at the Center for International Cooperation in Agronomic Research for Development (CIRAD) in Montpellier. It is at the heart of this center that we develop our active ingredients that are innovative and effective with the utmost respect of nature and the consumer.

The GREEN BANANA Musactif®, as of age of 25 years : preserves youth.

The YELLOW BANANA Musactif®, as of age of 45 years: fights the effects of time.

Recent studies have shown that Phytosterols slow aging of the skin by regulating inflammation. DHEA-like in structure, they are power players in the renewal of the hydro-lipid film as part of phospholipids synthesis and give skin a firmer appearance.  Polyphenols in turn contribute to the prevention of skin aging by blocking free radicals and protecting cells from oxidative stress. Kadalys works ethically with producers of bananas from Guadeloupe and Martinique and contributes to the preservation of biodiversity and the environment.

Kadalys creates ethical active ingredients, certified organic by ECOCERT and originally 100% traceable.  We develop sophisticated formulas using active ingredients, to create effective skin care with an affinity with the skin.

We continue to innovate by creating unique cosmetic active ingredients and skincare precisely dosed with an effectiveness proven by scientific tests or clinical studies under dermatological control

We enhance beauty rituals by creating refined and premium textures combined with natural and captivating fragrances.

Each year, almost 270 000 tons of bananas are transported by boat to Europe. However approximately 15% will never be sold as retail stores discard those damaged during transport.

Kadalys gives them a second chance and transforms them into quality skin care products; good for the skin and the environment.

Kadalys collaborates with local planters in Martinique and Guadeloupe for their expertise and practices that respect the environment.

For 10 years, the planters of Guadeloupe and Martinique have developed a unique model of preservation agriculture that promotes biodiversity and respects the fragile balance between man and nature.

This partnership also strengthens the traceability, quality and safety of our main cosmetic active ingredient.

Kadalys has created its own label “Banane Ethique” in collaboration with the group “Banane de Guadeloupe and Martinique” certifying a responsible agricultural development approach. Furthermore, Kadalys redistributes 1% of its turnover to the banana sector to help finance research programs to promote new reasoned farming systems and to intensify varietal research.
